Ornaments outside my studio
These ornaments can hang outside in NC through all seasons
Throw and Blow
Three pieces made in collaboration between Lisa Oakley and Alan Bennett using a wet clay form as a mold into which the glass is blown.
Throw and Blow
After adding a solid foot. The throw rings from the clay form are evident on the surface of the glass.
Throw and Blow
An episiotomy is performed to aid in removing the expanded glass form. The clay can then be rewetted and used again.
Throw and Blow
Blowing into the clay form to expand the glass. Holding the sides of the clay form alters the shape of the piece as well.
Throw and Blow
Once the glass is shaped to fit closely into the clay form it is heated and pushed down into the mold.
